He states that the University cannot accept students from outside Ireland into their Veterinary School. Numbers in the school are restricted and there are very long waiting lists. He has asked that this message be conveyed to the Nuncio.

Handwritten letter to +McQuaid from John A. Horgan, 188, Clonliffe Road, concerning the State’s competence in compelling persons to submit themselves or their children to treatment for venereal diseases.
Typed letter to + McQuaid from James Ardle MacMahon. Fr. Liam Carey phoned to say he received an invitation to a meeting to protest against the bombing of North Vietnam. The speakers were John Horgan, Sean MacReamoinn, Fr. Michael O’Neill, Jack Dowling, Donal Nevin and Peadar O’Donnell. He advised Fr. Carey to ignore the invitation. Fr. O’Neill, like U Thant, Bishop Fulton Sheen and Bobby Kennedy, felt it should be stopped. Did not know that Nevin and O’Donnell were speakers. Fr. MacMahon emphasised two points. The issue of bombing North Vietnam was a propaganda issue the moral issue was by no way simple.
Letter from +Philbin to +McQuaid apologising for not mentioning an invitation, he was given to speak at a Mental Health Symposium in Dublin. He also mentions an article by John Horgan in ‘The Irish Times’ which states he has given approval for a non-denominational chapel in the University of Coleraine. He assures the Archbishop that this is untrue. Annotated by +McQuaid.
Letter from +MacNeely to +McQuaid. He thanks +McQuaid for sending the new syllabus for nurses and feels the inclusion of a section on ethics and psychology will be helpful to their Catholic nurses. He is also happy with the presence of Mgr. Horgan on the board and thanks +McQuaid for his part in solving the problem.
