Portée et contenu
A memorandum chronicling the historical relocation of the Our Lady of Angels friary in Hermiston, Oregon. It details how the original site was chosen a mile outside of town near a four-foot concrete irrigation structure, which humorously rumoured to remind homesick friars of the historic Round Towers of Ireland. The text explains that a later generation of practical young men – referred to as ‘hard-boiled’ iconoclasts – disregarded this sentimentality and spent approximately $5,000 to move the friary closer to town for better accessibility.
