Dr. Dalton, Provist of Trinity College, was anxious to pay a courtesy call on His Grace but was not sure how to proceed. Asked her (Mrs Dunphy) for her opinion. He was seeking guidance on certain matters.

The Secretary is requested by His Grace to say that he will receive a courtesy visit from Dr. Dalton, but Dr. Dalton must understand that in view of the existing law of the Catholic Church concerning Catholics attending Trinity College the Archbishop may not return the courtesy call.
