              . Typed letter to Senator M. Colgan, Drumcondra, from D. J. Duffy, Secretary, Committee of Inquiry. Refers to certain statements he (Colgan) made regarding the alleged Communist infiltration into the Labour Party. Enclosed is a copy of Deputy Larkin’s letter denying the allegations made against him and seeking an opportunity to answer specific charges. The Committee consider that they are bound in justice to have the evidence presented in a formal manner. Accordingly Senator Colgan is invited to attend a meeting with Mr. Larkin so that he will have an opportunity to reply.

              Handwritten minutes of ‘V’ Committee meeting. John Galhen, Secretary, British Communist Party, was invited to speak at the Trinity debate but was unable to attend. He was replaced by Bill Garritt. Shirley Armstrong and Sal Duffy elected to the new Fencing Committee. The group frequently goes abroad, including to Iron Curtain countries. Worth watching them. Sean O’Rourke, Lily O’Rourke and Geoffrey Palmer visited Moscow for the May Day Parade. Cutting taken from The Irish Times, 3 May.

              Typed letter to +McQuaid from Dr. John Duffy, 25, Lr. Leeson Street. Proposes to found the National Anti-Tuberculosis League. To secure a preponderance of Catholic representation he has succeeded in having the county branches of the League placed under the guidance of the County Medical Officers of Health, most of whom are Catholics.
