Correspondence relating to the need for providing a school for mentally retarded children in the Crumlin area. This could be attached to Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children as the Order of St. Vincent de Paul are experts on the problems of mentally handicapped children. Such a School (Day Centre) has already been set up: St. Michael’s House, Northbrook Road, Dublin. The Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Handicapped Children wish to have this Day Centre be recognized as a National School and seek State assistance to have a similar Day Centre established on the North side. Letter from +Alibrandi to +McQuaid concerning the date chosen by the Holy Father for the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. It falls on the 2nd Sunday after Easter, Good Shepherd Sunday. As there are changes in liturgical texts, the evangelical theme of the Good Shepherd is no longer found in the liturgy of the second Sunday after Easter. As many enquiries have been made in relation to this, the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship has forwarded the enclosed reply, as a matter of urgency. Reply from +A. Bugnini of the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship enclosed.
