Copy letter from Fr. Peter Bowe OFM Cap., Provincial Minister, to Archbishop Patrick John Ryan of Philadelphia. Following the advice received from James P. Ryan earlier that month, Father Peter formally requests the archbishop’s approval to accept a house in Philadelphia generously offered by John Ryan. Father Peter explicitly addresses the concerns of the local advisory council by clarifying that the Capuchins have no desire to undertake parochial charges or run a parish in America. He assures the archbishop that their sole intent is to carry out mission work among Irish immigrants under local episcopal direction.
