              Letter to Fr. Martin from Una [ Byrne]. The following items are included in the report: the IHA is under control. She has them on the run in the International Committee. At a meeting in Berlin (1959) an African delegate wanted the Alliance to protest against France exploding the A-bomb in Africa. Topic ruled out of order as the Alliance is non – political. President criticised by two Irish delegates. Jeffers or Edwards have approached Dr. O’Connell from St. Vincent’s Hospital with view to attending a medical congress in Russia. All interviews with Goss Myar were stopped and she succeeded in nothing she planned.

              Copy of a typed report on the Unemployed Workers’ Committee. The meeting in O’Connell Street on 22 May was attended by about 2,000. Sam Nolan, with clinched fist, demanded that unions call a one-day strike. Tributes were paid to the clergy of the Church of Ireland for their help. The Committee was organizing in every large housing area – Ballyfermot, Cabra, etc. Decided to publish own newspaper. Intend to change the system.
