Letter from Fr. James Ardle MacMahon to +McQuaid stating that Mgr. Edward Cassidy wished to meet with him regarding the United Nations Conference which is to be held in Geneva. The conference is on science and may be of interest to developing regions. The Government are sending two delegates, Peadar MacEoin, Assistant Secretary, Department of Education and Daniel Hoctor, Assistant Secretary, Department of Agriculture. The Nuncio wishes to know more about these delegates and also wishes to meet them before they leave for Geneva.
Letter from Mgr. Cassidy to +McQuaid forwarding a reply from the Secretariat of State in relation to releasing Fr. Cyril White for service in the English language section of that Office. Taking into account his age and his ability, they request +McQuaid to allow him enrol in the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy with a view to him being appointed, eventually, to the diplomatic service. The matter has now been referred to Archbishop Paro, President of the Academy. His Holiness hopes the Archbishop will consent to this suggestion.

Cassidy stating ‘After he had said the Nuncio would not be involved!’
