              Letter from Mgr. Cassidy to +McQuaid sending a copy of ‘De Episcoporum muneribus’ and ‘Ecclesiae Sanctae’. These set out the norms giving effect to certain decrees of the Ecumenical Council and were forwarded by Rev. Pericle Felici, Secretary of the Central Commission ‘De coordinandis post Concillium laboribus et Concilii Decretis interpretandis’.

              Letter from +Knox, New Delhi to +McQuaid stating that the secretary, Mgr. Cassidy has left for Rome and Dublin. He has had health problems and hopes his time in Dublin will see him return to good health. He says that the appeal from the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians is genuine and they often get food and medical supplies through the Catholic Relief Service. The Order runs orphanages. The authorities are not always happy about these appeals. Mr. Shah, the former Charge D’Affairs of the Indian Embassy in Dublin sends his greetings and has been appointed Ambassador to Laos.

              Letter from Fr. James Ardle MacMahon to +McQuaid stating that the British Ambassador had telephoned Mgr. Cassidy at the Nunciature making enquiries about the possibility of having a Religious service for the late Sir Winston Churchill. He has been in touch with the Department of External Affairs and appreciates the delicacy of this matter. As there will be no official service, perhaps an ordinary service could be held on Saturday.
