The Record has been incurring losses over the years, and in the year 23 June 1971 lost £1,408. Browne & Nolan could not afford to sustain such losses and reluctantly decided, on financial grounds, to cease publishing the Record. In their communications there was no hint of +McQuaid’s opinions. The letter startled the Bishop of Clonfert and Rory Henderson who are in favour of the proposed League.
