Scope and content
Typed report on Communist activities. A CPI meeting, held in 14, Sackville Place, J. Thompson presiding, discussed the position of neutral Eire consequent on the war between Russia and Germany. The sympathies of the Party were with Russia, but the position of the Party in Eire would be difficult. Party should be cautious as it did not desire a break with the IRA. Tom Watters, General Secretary of the Party, said the Party should be dissolved and members instructed to join the Irish Labour Party. The National Committee would continue to direct activities of the CP members in the Labour Party. Council of Action wants the Workers’ Weekly as organ of the Council.
