Handwritten letter to +McQuaid from J.P. Walshe, Ambasciata D’Irlanda, Roma. Notes how poor the world’s protest has been to the persecutions in Poland. Is attempting to arrange a simple statement for the Diplomatic Corps but has endless difficulties in persuading them to accept it. Australians most difficult. Has spoken to Cardinal Stritch about the need for a world Christian defence league. The members of this league would agitate with their governments to cut off trade or diplomatic relations in cases of persecution. Asks if + McQuaid would consider writing to Stritch. Encloses a speech given by Cardinal Stritch.
