Scope and content

Mount Argus; Bequests: Bequest of Michael Francis Lee; These documents concern the last will and testament, made on 6 March, 1928, of Michael F. Lee, 21, Harold's Cross Cottages, who died on 30 November, 1931. The will appointed the Superior of Mount Argus as executor and bequeathed the sum of £20 to St, Vincent de Paul Society, Dublin, for charitable purposes and the residue of his estate (i.e., a sum of money in the British Post Office Savings Department) to the said superior for Masses for the repose of his soul, his parents', bother's and sister's. Probate was granted on 18 May, 1932. Michael F. Lee had married on 25, June, 1900, and was separated soon afterwards from his wife, Katherine Mary Lee, now living at Dangan, Summerhill, Co. Meath. Between 1904 and 1906, she had loaned £105 (from her own separate property) to Michael. He agreed to pay her 10/- per month interest, which he did up to the date of his death: but up to that time he did not pay her any portion of the sum loaned. Mrs. Lee sought information as to whether the executor would be entitled to pay her out of Michael's estate the sum she had loaned to him. This was agreed to and she was paid £105 accordingly. When all was finally settled and all expenses paid by the executor, the sum of £571.0.3 remained, for which 2,284 masses were said.
