Copy of typed letter to Sean McEntee, Minister for Local Government and Public Health, from +McQuaid. In his view, as it is a national issue, the body most fitted to carry through the campaign is the Red Cross and that Society is under a Minister.

Typed copy of a report on Mr. Aiken’s speeches. One suspects that these two speeches were inspired by Communists. Mr. Aiken cannot be suspected of being a Communist, but is very anti-American. His chief advisors are Mr. Woods (who writes for The Irish Times), Mr. Conor Cruise O’Brien and Miss McEntee. Woods and Cruise O’Brien have strong left views. Miss McEntee is a close friend of Professor David Green of Trinity. Steps should be taken to stop Irish foreign policy becoming an instrument of Communist propaganda.

Handwritten letter to Fr. Diffney. Prescott owns Cooks of Dun Laoire which distributes some of the filthy magazines. Three vacancies on Visiting Committee of Dundrum Asylum. Asked by Sean McEntee to go on the Committee. Is there anything she should know? Mrs. Cleary teaches in Mount Anvil. She was a follower of Dr. Betty O’Shea. Would consider her unfit to teach. As Secretary of International Committee of IHA she received some letters from Poland, Germany and France.

Handwritten report. Sean Nolan told B. O’Neill that his men voted for de Valera and PR (Proportional Representation). They did not organise disturbance at de Valera’s meeting, but some of his men did cause disturbance at the end of the meeting when provoked by Mr. McEntee. Sam Nolan had a letter in The Mail supporting PR. Mrs. Byrne is active in Fianna Fail. She is becoming a danger.
