Walshe, Ambassador to the Holy See, from + D’Alton informing him that the Bishops were unwilling to sponsor the proposed Chapel due to their heavy commitment to Maynooth College. They also felt that they should have been consulted about the project and that their consent and cooperation should have been obtained before definite steps were taken.
