On 21ST July a decision was called to oppose the granting of money-lending licences to Jews where there was evidence against them. 90% of the members decided not to oppose the money lenders as no reply was received from +McQuaid. They resigned when he moved that the licences must be opposed. He opposed ten licences on 31 July and the cases were adjourned until 18 September. Asks the Archbishop to let him know if he disapproves of his to let him know and he will withdraw his opposition. 3/ 25/2. Typed circular letter (+ McQuaid’s name inserted) from ICRPA, dealing with two pernicious evils controlled by Aliens, namely money- lending and hire-purchase. Requests subscription. 3/ 25/3. 9 March 1942 Handwritten letter to +McQuaid from George Griffin, President, ICRPA, reporting the decrease in complaints against money-lenders. He now appeals to the Archbishop to use his influence with the Government with the view to introducing fresh legislation to deal with hire-purchase. 3/ 25/4. 11 March 1942 Draft letter, in +McQuaid’s handwriting, and signed by Christopher Mangan, Secretary, to Mr. Griffin, Crumlin, acknowledging receipt of his letter and assuring him its contents will receive very careful attention.

Handwritten letter to Fr. Mangan from Jim O’Brien. He is sending the Minutes of the Communist meetings in town. This copy is taken from original MS which one of the legionaries procured. It shows how the Labour Party is being used as a vehicle to spread Communism.

Wonders if it is prudent to ask the Archbishop whether the Leo League should form branches in the parishes which want it. Would be under the direction of a priest from the parish. O’Brien wants to fade out as he is not best man for the job.

This include ‘Sanctuary of the Heart’, ‘The life story of the Cur d’Ars’ and ‘Isle of Sinners’. He will at a later stage show ‘Angel on my shoulder’ and ‘Miracle of Milan’.
