He was guest of Sheikh Fahad, brother of the Ruler. The Sheikh was anxious to get Sisters to run the government hospitals.

He states due to travel restrictions, even those offered scholarships, may not be allowed leave India. He states the weather has been ‘…quite severe and we are all waiting for the monsoon to break’.

              Letter from +Knox, New Delhi to +McQuaid stating that the secretary, Mgr. Cassidy has left for Rome and Dublin. He has had health problems and hopes his time in Dublin will see him return to good health. He says that the appeal from the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians is genuine and they often get food and medical supplies through the Catholic Relief Service. The Order runs orphanages. The authorities are not always happy about these appeals. Mr. Shah, the former Charge D’Affairs of the Indian Embassy in Dublin sends his greetings and has been appointed Ambassador to Laos.
