• Burke Sheridan with Burton G. Tremaine, a noted art collector, at the opening night of the Metropolitan Opera in 1952.

The file also includes newspaper clippings ('Irish Press', 'Sunday Review') of tributes paid to Burke Sheridan following her death.

Capuchin Friary, Kilkenny

An image of the exterior of the Church of St. Francis and the adjoining Capuchin Friary in Kilkenny. The church is decorated to mark the tercentenary celebrations of the arrival of the Capuchins in Kilkenny in 1948.

James Connolly at O'Donovan Rossa’s Funeral

A photographic print of James Connolly (standing at far right) at the funeral of the veteran Fenian, Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa in August 1915. O’Rossa had died in a hospital on Staten Island, New York. When he died Tom Clarke asked for his body to be returned to Ireland for burial. The funeral marked the first occasion when Connolly and the Irish Citizen Army appeared in a formal alliance with the Irish Volunteers. O'Donovan Rossa’s funeral was one of the largest political commemorations ever witnessed in Ireland. It was notable for Pádraig Pearse’s famous graveside oration.

Visit of King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola of Belgium to Ireland

Photographic prints relating to the state visit to Ireland of King Baudouin (1930-1993) and Queen Fabiola (1925-2014) of Belgium in May 1968. The file was compiled for a photographic feature published in 'The Capuchin Annual' (1969). The file includes press prints showing their arrival at Dublin Airport, their attendance at a state banquet at Dublin Castle, laying a wreath at the military cemetery in Arbour Hill, and a visit to Áras an Uachtaráin where King Baudouin played hurling with President Éamon de Valera and the Taoiseach, Jack Lynch. Frank Aiken, Minister for External Affairs, is also present in some of the photographs

Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore

Photographic prints compiled for an article by Jim Fahy titled ‘Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore’ published in 'The Capuchin Annual' (1974). One of the prints shows the unveiling by Brian Lenihan of a memorial plaque in Ballygar, County Galway, in 1969.

(1902-1979) titled ‘The Irish Capuchins in Cape Town and Zambia / from virgin mission territory to diocese’, published in 'The Capuchin Annual' (1975). The file includes images of Capuchin friars, Franciscan Missionary Sisters, hospitals, clinics and schools established by religious congregations, and locals availing of care and education at these establishments. The file includes the following images:

• St Francis Mission, Malengwa, Mongu, Zambia.
