Newspaper clipping of a letter by Fr. Dominic O’Connor OFM Cap. published in the nationalist newspaper the 'Cork Free Press' (8 Nov. 1911). The letter is titled ‘The Brown Friars: their education in “the dark days”’ and refers to the long history of the education of Irish Capuchins in continental colleges. The article was sent to the editor of the 'Cork Free Press' and was signed 'Segan Eireannac'. With cover and annotation by Fr. Stanislaus Kavanagh OFM Cap.

Agreement of Patrick Pearse with the Intermediate Education Board

Draft legal agreement between Patrick Pearse and the Intermediate Education Board for Ireland for funds for the provision of ‘equipment and appliances for the practical teaching of the Natural and Experimental Sciences’ in St. Enda’s School in Rathfarnham, Dublin. With a schedule of annual payments to be made by Pearse to Education Board from 1910 to 1920. The agreement is signed by Pearse and is dated 24 January 1911. The document is in typescript with various manuscript additions (8 pp). The file includes two printed copies of the agreement. The printed copies appear to be unsigned.

Letter conveying Papal Blessing for Temperance Mission

Letter from Fr. William OSFC, Franciscan Monastery, Crawley, Sussex, to Fr. Aloysius Travers OFM Cap. enclosing a copy of a blessing from Pope Pius X. It reads: ‘… the Friars Minor Capuchin of the Irish Province, charged by the Bishops of Ireland, to spread the apostolate of Temperance, have had the happy idea of aggregating to such a society even the children, and at the present moment there about two hundred thousand young members who promise to abstain throughout their lives from alcoholic beverages …’.

Minutes of a meeting of Irish Capuchin Missionary friars appointed to conduct the temperance crusade. The minutes refer to the correct ceremonials, forms of sermons and procedures in relation to the taking of the total abstinence pledge, and the formation of total abstinence sodalities at missions conducted by the friars.
