A photographic print of the garden of the Capuchin Friary on Church Street. Two friars, Fr. Angelus Healy OFM Cap. and possibly Fr. Edward Walsh OFM Cap., are shown in the image. The print shows nearly the full extent of the old friary garden, with the rear of Father Mathew Hall fronting onto Church Street beyond. The photographic studio is credited to C. and L. Walsh, 55 Lower Mount Street, Dublin.

A large bound volume containing documents, photographs, and newspaper clippings relating to the 1916 Rising. The volume holds an original copy of the 'Irish War News' (25 April 1916) along with original postcard prints, memoriam cards for the Rising’s leaders and other ephemera. Some of the newspaper clippings are of articles reporting on subsequent commemorations of the insurrection. The volume also holds photographs, clippings, and printed ephemera relating to prominent Irish artists and exhibitions of their work.

A clipping of a letter from Kathleen Clark published in the ‘Sunday Independent’ in which she gives her recollections of the planning of the 1916 Rising. She refers to P.S. O’Hegarty’s assertion that the rebellion was only planned for Dublin. The letter is dated 29 July 1949 at 40 Merlyn Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin.

A letter from Patrick Collins, 6 Clonmore Road, Ballybough, Dublin, to Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. enclosing a copy of an account of the final hours and execution of Seán Hueston in Kilmainham Jail on 8 May 1916. The account was written by his uncle who was a relation of Seán Hueston. Reference is made in the account to the ministrations to Heuston by Fr. Albert Bibby OFM Cap.

Margaret Kennedy Appreciation / ‘A Woman of Easter Week’

A clipping of an appreciation of Margaret Kennedy (1892-1953) by R.M. Fox published in ‘The Irish Weekly and Ulster Examiner’ (13 June 1953). Kennedy was a member of Cumann na mBan who served in Marrowbone Lane during the Rising. She was subsequently imprisoned in Kilmainham Jail. She later worked with the Irish National Aid Association and became a captain in Cumann na mBan (1920), and later a Commandant.
