Correspondence between General Richard Mulcahy and +McQuaid relating to the School Hall being used as a cinema in the De La Salle School, Ballyfermot. Brother Thomas stated that the school hall was used for school and parochial purposes during the day, and was used as a cinema seven nights a week. The debt on the school was £70,000 and the proceeds from the cinema enabled them to pay the interest. The capital was being brought down from the salaries of the teachers in the school.

He has received the cheque for £35 from the Sisters of Charity in Clonmel, which has been collected on behalf of the ‘European Fund/Italian Children’ and which was forwarded by Rev. T. Mulcahy SJ. This will be sent to the Secretariat of State and they will receive a formal acknowledgement in due course.
