Typed letter to Fr. MacMahon. Thanks him for getting Vincent Grogan to speak at her Association. The Federation wants to take an active role in the coming event but it is now too late. They were asked two years ago to send people to help but not one member joined. Criticism made that the group did not have the education to entertain at this level. Mentions importance of voting. One member failed to get on the Committee by one vote. Youth section of the Irish Workers’ League are planning an excursion to Belfast. Death of Sean Murray, Chairman of CP Northern Ireland.

Typed report on CPI and KO activities. John Nolan, Sean Murray and Desmond Greaves are to attend a joint Executive Committee in London between the British CP, the Northern Ireland Executive and the Irish Workers’ League. The meeting of the 10th July discussed the apathy of League members and the fall-off in attendance at meetings. While in London Nolan will visit book suppliers regarding credit.

Typed report on CPI and KO activities. The following items are mentioned in the report: no meetings of any importance were held due to the anti- Communist demonstrations regarding Hungary. The windows of New Books broken and the shop remains closed. No decision yet on the IWL Christmas bazaar. Edmond Melek Lawasi, medical student from Egypt, addressed public meeting in College Green. Spoke on Egypt, and avoided any mention of Hungary. Cyril Murray, Car Sales Ltd., reported a threat he received to Gardaí. It stated “you might be burned alive.” Peadar Cowan, an opportunist, anxious to join Left-Wing Labour.
