Letter from +O’Hara to +McQuaid thanking him for allowing Fr. Stephen Clancy leave the Clergy Retreat to accompany Fr. Moylan, former Vicar General to the Nuncio and from Atlanta, to Shannon Airport. Neither he nor Mgr. Alibrandi were available to accompany Fr. Boylan to Collinstown and hence he is very grateful to the Archbishop. He also discusses the merits of the complaints of Br. John O’Toole which will be sent to the Sacred Congregation for Religious and he has followed the advice and information provided by the Archbishop. He also mentions Professor H. Bruck who has been nominated for membership to the Pontifical Academy of Science. He mentions the new Nuncio who is leaving Cairo on 31 July and who plans on stopping in Rome before coming to Dublin.

Letter from Mgr. Gerada to +McQuaid thanking him for ensuring the success of Mgr. Bafile’s visit to Ireland. He has learned that the new Nuncio will have a short stop at Shannon on 1 August. He will confirm the programme once the Nuncio has replied. Mgr. Gerada also informs him that he may be late for their appointment in Killiney the following evening when he plans on visiting with Mgr. Del Gallo. This is due to a circuit of motor races which is taking place and cause heavier traffic than usual.

Typed copy of a letter to + McQuaid, unsigned, with the Minutes of ‘Vigilance’ Meeting of 2nd November attached. Wishes to clarify some points. The police are investigating the Centre of Psychiatry/Scientology arising out of an inquest on one of the pupils. O’Riordan has not left the country. Roger McHugh is a practicing Catholic, but quite odd and silly. Matt Merrigan used his union influence to ground Aer Lingus planes in England during the recent strike. Cathal O’Shannon was a Socialist but now a practicing Catholic.
