Note to +McQuaid stating that Fr. Morgan Crowe called to say that everything went well with the Saturday mass at which prayers were said for Sir Winston Churchill. The British Ambassador and about 40-50 others attended. Mgr. Cassidy represented the Nuncio. Note in +McQuaid’s hand refers to the attendance of Mgr. Cassidy stating ‘After he had said the Nuncio would not be involved!’

Copy letter from Fr. James Ardle MacMahon to Fr. Morgan Crowe, 87 St. Stephen’s Green, arranging for prayers to be said for the repose of the soul of Sir Winston Churchill at the usual 10am mass on Saturday. It is not therefore a public mass for the deceased statesman but an opportunity for Catholics to pray for him.
