Letter from +Lyons to +McQuaid. He thanks +McQuaid for his letter of sympathy following the fire in an orphanage in his diocese. He writes that had they found out earlier, or had a longer ladder all would have been saved. They hope to build a new and better orphanage.

Handwritten report concludes that Eamon Lyons will get nowhere. The Democrat links his group with The Plough. Una Byrne doing good work on Housewives. Resolution by Mrs. Lily O’Rourke congratulating the recent British action marches in London defeated. Inquiry into Communism in Empire News said Irish workers rapidly falling for Communism. Unemployed candidate Clarke was an ex- IRA internee. Not a Communist.

Handwritten report. Second edition of Irish Socialist Review very dangerous. Surely newsagents will not sell it here. If they do there will be trouble in time. The Plough finding it hard to keep going. British Communists have produced a programme: ‘The British Road to Socialism.’ Noel Lyons, Terenure, came home from Prague in the same plane as Nolan. Is a young writer and may have gone for writing experience. Is it now Communist policy to let Socialists go ahead? Does the new Unemployed Association have a link to Communism?
