The Minister believes that a demand should be made on the local community to make a minor contribution to ensure attention to the maintenance of buildings.

Also mentions Dr. Collis, Marrowbone Lane Samaritan Fund, Inchicore and a conference chaired by Sean Moylan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence. One enclosure thanks Archbishop for his financial assistance in helping St. George’s parish local group with their A.R.P.

Letter from +O’Hara to +McQuaid thanking him for the information on the solemn consecration of Ireland to the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He will forward this information to the Canadian Hierarchy. He states that Mgr. Moylan and himself went in the car of the Nuncio of Vienna to within 29 miles of the Iron Curtain but they did not approach any closer. He describes it as a strenuous trip.

Letter from +O’Hara to +McQuaid thanking him for allowing Fr. Stephen Clancy leave the Clergy Retreat to accompany Fr. Moylan, former Vicar General to the Nuncio and from Atlanta, to Shannon Airport. Neither he nor Mgr. Alibrandi were available to accompany Fr. Boylan to Collinstown and hence he is very grateful to the Archbishop. He also discusses the merits of the complaints of Br. John O’Toole which will be sent to the Sacred Congregation for Religious and he has followed the advice and information provided by the Archbishop. He also mentions Professor H. Bruck who has been nominated for membership to the Pontifical Academy of Science. He mentions the new Nuncio who is leaving Cairo on 31 July and who plans on stopping in Rome before coming to Dublin.
