‘Innisfallen’, Port of Cork

A view of the ‘Innisfallen’ docked at the Port of Cork in about 1955. Constructed in 1948 for the British & Irish Steam Packet Company (later known as B&I Line), this was the third ship named ‘Innisfallen’ to serve on the Irish Sea route between Cork and the ports of Fishguard and Swansea in South Wales. The ship was built at William Denny and Brothers Shipbuilders in Dumbarton, Scotland. The ship continued to serve the Port of Cork until 1968 when it was sold to Hellenic Maritime Lines in Greece and renamed ‘Poseidonia’. Following its long years of service, it ended its days at a shipbreakers’ yard in Brindisi, Italy, in 1985.

Annual Prize Draw Minute Book

Minute book of the committee organising the annual prize draw in aid of the Capuchin Publications Office. The principal prize was an automobile (either a Volkswagen or Austin car). The minute book covers routine organisational meetings from 1955 to 1967. With typescript inserts in the volume.

Correspondence and receipts regarding ground rent due to the estate of John Murphy, deceased, probably in respect of 142 Church Street. (See CA CS/2/2/2/7). The correspondence from Harry Lisney & Son, agents for the properties, mainly relates to demands for remittances from the Capuchin community.
