Letter to Frank Fahy (Proinsias Ó Fathaigh), Ceann Comhairle, Dáil Éireann, from an individual at ‘c/o Mr. Patrick Burtage, Main Street’ and Kilmalogue, Portarlington, County Laois.

A signed menu card for a reception marking the visit of Cardinal John Joseph Glennon to Áras an Uachtaráin in Dublin. The card is signed by Cardinal Glennon. It is also signed by Seán T. Ó Ceallaigh (Seán T. O’Kelly), the President of Ireland, and by his wife Phyllis Bean Úi Cheallaigh (Phyllis O’Kelly). The other signatures are those of Taoiseach Éamon de Valera, Seán Mac an tSaoi (Seán MacEntee), the Minister of Health, and Séamus Ó Riain (James Ryan), the Minister of Agriculture. Cardinal Glennon died five days later in Dublin (9 March 1946). His body lay in repose in All Hallows College (his old seminary) before being returned to the United States for burial in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.

Card to Anna Fahy, 17 Norfolk Road, Phibsborough, Dublin, from Richard Francis Hayes giving an account of his and Frank Fahy’s imprisonment in Reading Jail. He writes ‘We are doing fairly well here – thanks especially to Frank who has been everything to us. I have only one complaint against him and I tell you because you will sympathise with me. He is next cell to me and has a frightful habit of making dreadful noise in his cell in the dark mornings between 6 & 7. He insists on persuading me he is singing & is training his voice!’.

Letter to Anna Fahy confirming that the ‘bag of clothing’ she has sent has been given to her husband in Reading Jail. The letter adds ‘He is quite well. He is also allowed to write and receive three letters each week’.

Card to Frank Fahy, ‘Irish Prisoner, Lewes Prison, Lewes, England’, from Fr. Augustine Hayden OSFC. The card reads ‘Holy Thursday / You are always remembered since we met at the F[our] C[ourt]’s. May God bless you always. / Fr. Augustine OSFC’.

Postcard to Frank Fahy, ‘Q.2/34 / Irish prisoner of war, Lewes Prison’. The card is signed ‘Ui Dálaigh’. It appears that Fahy’s correspondent was a prisoner himself. The image-side has a portrait print of Edward Daly, the executed 1916 Rising leader. A manuscript annotation underneath the portrait reads ‘Patrick’s Day / 1917 / Q.121’. The card reads ‘Dear Frank / Just a reminder that our thoughts are with you this Patrick’s Day and every day until the sun shines for us all again’.

An account book of the Dublin City & County Board of the Irish Volunteers. The account is with the Munster and Leinster Bank Ltd., Dame Street, Dublin. A manuscript title on the front cover reads ‘Dublin Co. Volunteers / Dublin City & Co. Board / 26 Great Brunswick Street / 2 Dawson Street / Dublin / Treasurer / Frank Fahy’. The entries cover the period from 31 October 1915 to 30 June 1916. Includes references to many transactions on the account made by Philip Bernard Joseph Cosgrave (1884-1923), and to entries made by ‘Byrne’, ‘Hanarhan’, 'Hannigan', and others.
