Blank invitation card to the Pontifical Mass held in Holy Trinity Church to mark the centenary of the death of Fr. Theobald Mathew OSFC. The mass was celebrated by the Most Rev. Cornelius Lucey, Bishop of Cork, on 9 Dec. 1956.

History of the South Friary, Blackamoor Lane, Cork, by Fr. Francis Hayes OFM Cap. (1866-1946). The manuscript additions and corrections to the text are by Fr. Stanislaus Kavanagh OFM Cap. The history concludes by noting that the end of the Blackamoor Friary was noted in an ‘Old Account Book of the South Friary: “October 6th 1850. On this Sunday the South Friary was finally closed and the new Church of the Most Holy Trinity was opened on the 10th October being the birthday of the Very Rev. Mr. Theobald Mathew’. With copy photographic print of the old friary building on Blackamoor Lane. The print has been endorsed on the reverse by Fr. Carthage Ruth OFM Cap. It reads ‘Blackamoor Lane off Sullivan’s Quay, Cork city – behind Tax Office, built about 1771 by Friar Arthur O’Leary – used until 1850 when Fr. Mathew Memorial Church of the Holy Trinity was opened for divine worship’.

An appeal in support of exiled French Capuchins in Cork. The appeal notes that the friars have been exiled as part of 'the policy of persecution adopted by the present French ministry, and which has resulted in breaking up the whole religious system of that country'. This original printed appeal is pasted into the volume at p. 4.

Copy note re Harry Clarke stained glass windows in Holy Trinity Church in Cork. It is remarked that the 'windows were designed and made in the studios of Clark[e] and Son under the supervision of Harry Clarke RHA (now deceased. 1933) and erected in the Franciscan Capuchin Church, Cork, 1928 / The above is in the handwriting of the late Fr. Martin [Hyland OFM Cap.] and he remark[s] that it is a true copy of that supplied by Mr. Clark[e]'. This typescript copy note is pasted into the volume at p. 7.

Notes on chalices and sacred vessels held in Holy Trinity Church 'in July 1954 in two safes'. In total, nine chalices and vessels are briefly described over pp 8-11 in the volume.

List of articles, records and relics relating to Fr. Theobald Mathew OSFC stored in a ‘wardrobe’ in Holy Trinity Friary. A note attached to the page indicates that some of these items were moved to Dublin (probably to the Provincial Archives in Dublin). The list covers pp 15a-17 in the Holy Trinity archival volume. Reference is made in the list to 'Fr. Dominic O'Connor's commission as a military chaplain for George V in 1916'. An addendum at the end of the list reads 'On the whole this collection isn't worth much. But there are notes left in O'Connor album and in case which show there were articles here that are no longer here. I conjecture they were taken to Dublin. This is the remains of a collection for museums Fr. Thomas [Dowling OFM Cap.] got together for the Cork [International] Exhibition [1902]'.

Copy map showing outline of the medieval St. Lawrence’s Chapel near the South Channel of the River Lee. The chapel is bounded by Webber’s Lane (now Morgan’s Lane) and by the ‘ascertained line of the Old City Wall’. The site was seemingly covered by the recently-demolished former Beamish & Crawford Brewery, Main Street South, Cork. The map was probably copied from a nineteenth-century lease map and has the following key to the coloured areas:
‘Land coloured red leased by Carleton & Mitchell to Francis Cottrell, 1st June 1796.
Green and brown leased by Carleton & Mitchell to Francis Cottrell, 1st June 1796.
Land coloured green held by Carleton under lease from Corporation dated May 6th 1706.
Land coloured brown held by Carleton under lease from Prebendary of Christ Church.
Land coloured blue held by Beamish & Crawford, surviving partners of “Beamish, Crawford & Barrett” as shewn on lease [of] Carleton & Mitchell to Cottrell dated 1st June 1796’.
