The sub-series contains a small collection of letters and poetry submitted by Colm Tóibín to Fr. Donal O’Mahony OFM Cap. for potential publication in 'Eirigh'.

Letters from Colm Tóibín to Fr. Donal O’Mahony OFM Cap. enclosing poems for publication in 'Eirigh'. The file includes a copybook containing a collection of eighteen manuscript poems by Tóibín written in 1971. The file also includes loose sheets of handwritten poetry with cover letters to Fr. O’Mahony. The letters are addressed from Tóibín’s residence at 9 Parnell Avenue, Enniscorthy, and at St. Peter’s College, Wexford. Some of the items note Tóibín’s age at the date of the poem’s composition – aged fifteen in January 1971. The correspondence refers to his childhood experiences, to the influences of some writers on his poetry, and his hopes for publication of his work. The poem titles include:

The catalogue lists Irish history books and periodicals, as well as compilations and anthologies of Irish literature, prose and poetry, and religious texts. The file also contains information re a weekly draw in aid of the Capuchin Foreign Missions (21 Sept. 1968).

Henry Anglin OFM Cap., editor of 'The Capuchin Annual', and Fr. Donal O’Mahony OFM Cap., editor of 'Eirigh'. The file also includes some blank sheets from the Capuchin Foreign Mission Office, Dublin, and from Casey’s Hotel, Glengarriff, County Cork, which Fr. Anglin used for correspondence whilst on vacation.

There is a further comment below the print: ‘Father Albert died in California in 1925. Father Dominic in Oregon in 1935’.

Documents relating to an application to the Commissioners of Charitable Donation and Bequests for Ireland for the appointment of Fr. Eustace McSweeney OFM Cap., Fr. Donal O’Mahony OFM Cap., and Fr. Peter Rodgers OFM Cap. (FMC) as trustees of various properties in Cork. The file includes a statutory declaration to be signed by the Capuchin friars and a copy of the order from the Charitable Commissioners confirming the appointment of the FMC members as trustees. The attached schedule provides particulars of the title to the various premises in Cork held by the Capuchins including Holy Trinity Church, the adjacent Friary and other properties such as Father Mathew Hall, and the friary, school and farm at Rochestown, County Cork (31 Mar. 1987).
