The deed refers to the intended purchase by the Capuchin friars of the said premises as set out in a deed of assignment dated 21 Jan. 1895. With a declaration of James Scanlan, 69 South Mall, Cork, agent, affirming that he has, for the past sixteen years, received the rents of the Charlotte Quay properties for Thomas Wellbank Morgan. 1 Jan. 1895.

Peter Edward Bowe OSFC, Charlotte Quay, of the residue of a lease dated 18 Mar. 1762 from Charles Dunbar to James Morrison, William Fritton and Ebenezer Morrison referring to a portion of the ‘marsh called Island Nagay adjoining the Corporation Marsh in the south suburbs of the city of Cork’. Agreement of Fr. Fiacre Bartholomew Brophy OSFC and Fr. Matthew Thomas O’Connor OSFC, Father Mathew Quay, Cork, and Fr. Jarlath Thomas Hynes, OSFC and Fr. Augustine John Hayden OSFC, Rochestown, Cork (the vendors), with Joseph Sullivan, King Street, Cork, merchant, for the residue of a term of 800 years granted in a lease from Joseph King to John Reynolds, dated 28 Feb. 1805, at the yearly rent of £34 2s 6d. The agreement is subject to certain legal stipulations and covenants including the requirement to keep the top garret and second floor windows which overlook the ‘recreation gardens of the vendors fitted with muffed and ribbed glass’. Augustine (John) Hayden OSFC, Rochestown, Cork, of all the premises and concerns now known as no. 24 South Mall, Cork, demised in a lease dated 28 Feb. 1805. In consideration of £100. With similar assignments of portions of the said premises to Joseph Sullivan, King Street, Cork, hotel keeper, for £285, and to Thomas Joseph Ollivere Esq., Cook Street, Cork, dental surgeon, for £300. Agreement of Henry J. Carlinge affirming that he has been let into the possession of premises on Queen Street hitherto occupied by him as caretaker of the Cork Assembly Rooms by Fr. Matthew (Thomas) O’Connor OSFC on behalf of the Capuchin community.

Copy of an extract of the will of Thomas William Joseph Barry, 8 Queen Street, Cork. He bequeaths to Fr. Matthew O’Connor OSFC all ‘his estate and interest in the house No. 8 Queen Street in which I now reside, and the premises on which has been built Father Mathew Hall free and discharged from the mortgage which now effects said premises’ on condition that one mass shall be said in Holy Trinity Church every week for eighty years. With a rescript for commutation by the Sacred Congregation of this weekly obligation for eighty years to 400 masses as £50 is the maximum value of the house. In Latin and English. Agreement by Crosse and Blackwell Ltd., with Rev. Fiacre (Bartholomew) Brophy OSFC, Rev. Matthew (Thomas) O’Connor OSFC, Rev. Jarlath (Thomas) Hynes OSFC and Rev. Augustine (John) Hayden OSFC to take down a wall and construct windows at the rear of a premises occupied by Father Mathew Hall, Queen Street, Cork.

Requisitions on title on behalf of the trustees of the Cork Assembly Rooms relating to rents payable under the lease of certain premises on Queen Street dated 1 Jan. 1846 (see CA HT/2/1/1/9). The requisitions also ask for negative searches in the Registry of Deeds against Fr. Thomas Matthew O’Connor OSFC, Fr. Michael Leonard Brophy OSFC and Fr. Michael Fidelis Neary OSFC.
