Flier for a tea festival to mark the opening of the Franciscan Great Temperance Hall, Mary Street, [Cork]. It is noted that the ‘Very Rev. Theobald Mathew and other grater advocates of temperance will attend’.

Income and payments day book. The book provides rough accounts of expenditure for various utilities, travel, salaries etc. The income accounts were derived primarily from donations, collections, ministries, missions and retreats.

Celtic Cross label. Ringed cross with shamrock leaves; in the four ‘corners’ and inscriptions of ‘Éire’ and ‘Sinn Féin’ (twice) on cross. The difference between the two years being only colour. Commissioned by Arthur Griffith and designed by Lily Williams this stamp depicted the Cross of Cong with ‘ÉIRE’ at centre. Sinn Féin members paid a halfpenny each for the stamps and affixed them to letters as a propaganda move. The 1908 Post Office Act outlawed their use after protests by MPs in the House of Commons. They were continued however up to 1916 and beyond. The Cross of Cong design was adopted by the Irish Free State for some values of Irish definitive postage stamps- 3d, 10d and 11d - which were in use up to 1968.
Hibernia and Wolfhound Label. Hibernia (Erin) with harp, with arms of the four provinces of Ireland (at corners) and wolfhound; inscriptions ‘Éire’ (top panel) and ‘Sinn Féin’ (left and right panels).
The labels were printed by James Walker & Co. Ltd., Dublin in 1908, and again in 1916. The 1916 version was re-drawn and thus differs from the 1908 version.

Poetry by James Lyon and Kathleen M. Murphy published in 'The Capuchin Annual' (1956-7), at pp 170; 208; 268-269. The poems are titled: ‘Maria Assumpta’, ‘Christmas in Connacht’ and ‘Evening Rhapsody’. The file also contains a typescript and galley proof of ‘Newman’s Grave’ by Kathleen M. Murphy and a copy of her poem titled ‘Sonnet for 1954 / Marian Year’.

• A copy letter from Fr. Henry to Dr. James Ryan (1891-1970) refers to Ryan’s concerns regarding the portrayal of the actions of the IRB during the Treaty debates in an article published in 'The Capuchin Annual'. Fr. Henry added ‘That the 1919 history has been written by so many people from the Treaty side is not altogether due to me. The important articles written from the other point of view which had been promised never came, in spite of frequent requests. The tradition of "The Capuchin Annual", as you know, has always been along the other line and it is my intention that it shall remain so’. (25 Feb. 1969).
• A copy letter from Fr. Henry to G. Boland requests photographs of Éamon de Valera’s visit to the United States in 1920. Fr. Henry adds ‘I believe some friend lent Father Senan the pictures [in the 1942 edition of the "Annual"] and I am hoping it was yourself’. (6 May 1969).

A bound volume containing printed copies of block pulls for illustrations in 'The Capuchin Annual'. The volume is a re-used 'Agenda de Bureau pour 1933'. The illustrations are mostly tailpieces for articles published in the 'Annual' from 1945-52. Many of the illustrations appear to be the work of Richard King, Fr. Thaddeus McVicar OFM Cap., and Fr. Gerald McCann OFM Cap.
