Receipt for an Inland Revenue payment made by Fr. Daniel Patrick O’Reilly OSFC and other Capuchin friars for a plot of ground on which the Roman Catholic Church on Church Street stands. The properties are held under a deed dated 9 July 1875. The statement notes that these premises were ‘demised in 1826 for a term of 99 years at the yearly rent of £46 3s 0d and the landlord’s interest therein sold in 1875 to Rev. Mr. O’Reilly and others’.

The requisitions were passed by the friar’s solicitors, Terence O’Reilly, to Blount, Lynch & Petre, 4 King Street, Cheapside, London, barristers, for their advice in cases to counsel.
Letters to James Pearse from a Mr. Humphreys, ‘The National Reformer’, 20 Circus Road, St. John’s Wood, London. The letters to a manuscript sent by Pearse for possible publication. Humphreys affirms that Charles Bradlaugh ‘has been so much occupied with the litigation that he has not yet had time to examine’ the manuscript (29 December 1889).

Circular re a general meeting of landowners ‘to take into consideration the administration of the Land Act’. James Hamilton, 2nd Duke of Abercorn (1838-1913) presided over the meeting. The circular includes a list of names of individuals acting as distributors for tickets for the meeting.

The volume is titled: ‘Secretary’s book for the Third Order of St. Francis attached to the Capuchin Convent, Walkin Street, Kilkenny, the Reverend Father Albert Mitchell OFSC, Director, [Feast of the] Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1873’. The volume contains brief minutes of the meetings of the Third Order of St. Francis in Kilkenny. Information is supplied in respect of the election of councillors, resolutions passed and other membership and organisational matters. The final page of the volume contains a ‘list of Franciscan Manuals loaned out to members of the 3rd Order of St. Francis on Sunday, 5th November 1876 at 2d each’.
Letter of contract by John Delany to Fr. Simeon Gaudillot OSFC (1836-1910), Commissary General, undertaking ‘to build the front wing of the Capuchin Convent, the ambulatory and the boundary wall according to the plans and specification proposed by Mr. Robert Walker, architect’. With a similar copy contract on the reverse in respect of the library wing of the said building.
Deed of assignment from Fr. Goodwyn Peter Augustine Lawless OSFC to Fr. Daniel Patrick O’Reilly OSFC of his interest in a plot ground on the west side of Church Street whereupon a Roman Catholic Church (St. Mary of the Angels) now stands.
