Archival and Library Catalogues and Inventories

This series comprises historical catalogues and schedules of papers held in the Archives of the Capuchin Friary in Kilkenny. Some of the papers listed in these catalogues are now held in the Provincial Archives in Dublin. Other records referenced in the catalogues have evidently been lost. See also the large bound volume titled ‘Archives of the Franciscan Capuchin Monastery, Kilkenny’ at CA KK/1/3/1.

Copy lease of William Tankerville Chamberlain (1751-1802) , Justice of the Peace, Court of King’s Bench, Dublin, to William Hamilton and Mountjoy Hamilton, Stafford Street, Dublin, of a dwelling house on Church Street ‘near the old bridge’ for 900 years at the yearly rent of £10. The original lease is dated 4 March 1796. The copy was made at the Registry of Deeds for Thomas Falls, solicitor. The file includes a copy memorial of the said lease.

Report on the Diocese of Livingstone

Report on the Irish Capuchin mission in the Diocese of Livingstone, Zambia. It is noted that the diocese consists roughly of the following areas in Zambia: Barotse Province, Livingstone District, Balovale District, and the Kabompo District … It also embraces the Eastern Caprivi Strip in South West Africa. It is staffed by the Capuchin Franciscan Fathers of the Irish Province and of the New Jersey Commissariate’. Statistical information is given in relation to the number of Irish Capuchin priests (58) and lay brothers (12) and other religious (both male and female) ministering in the diocese.
