Flier from the Halston Street Total Abstinence Society seeking subscriptions to fund the building of a new Hall on a site ‘secured at the junction of Church Street and Bedford Street’. The flier notes that ‘until now the work [of the Sodality] has been done in a wretchedly small hall which is no longer available for the perpetuation and increase of this great social reform’. The flier also provides a list of subscriptions for the fund.

The flier refers to the ceremony (19 October 1890) for the laying of the top-stone of the pedestal upon which the Father Mathew Statue on Sackville Street will be erected. Flier reporting on the meeting of a deputation of the leading civic citizens of Cork with Fr. Fiacre Brophy OSFC, guardian, regarding the promotion of a scheme for the improvement of the sanctuary and altar of Holy Trinity as a fitting memorial to the late Fr. Bernard Jennings OSFC (d. 26 Dec. 1904). With a newspaper clipping of an article reporting on the dedication of the said sanctuary. (20 Apr. 1908).

A republican flier used to publicize the issuing of Irish Bond Certificates in the United States. A comparison is drawn between Benjamin Franklin’s visit to Ireland in 1769 and Eamon de Valera’s visit to the America in 1919. The flier asks ‘Will America do unto Ireland in 1920 as Ireland did unto America in 1769?’ Readers are asked to ‘Subscribe for the bond certificates of the Republic of Ireland and mail your check today to Eamon De Valera, 411 Fifth Avenue, New York’.
