The spiral-bound booklet establishes the conditions of the tender for the sale of the Hall and specifies that the closing date for the submission of tenders is 21 September 2001. It also notes that the property ‘comprises of the entirety of the area contained in Lease dated the 28th of January 1890 made between Samuel Worthington of the one part and George Noble Plunkett and others on the other part’. The particulars note the some of the original leases referred to have been lost and only copy memorials will be supplied to prospective buyers. Letter from Ciaran Dunne, Dublin Corporation, to Fr. Seán Donohoe OFM Cap. re the proposed addition of St. Mary of the Angels, Church Street, to the Record of Protected Structures in Dublin. The letter encloses a short history of St. Mary of the Angels and a copy notice listing all of the proposed additions to the Record of Protected Structures in the Dublin City Development Plan (3 Jan. 2002). The particulars regarding St. Mary of the Angels read: ‘Today’s church was designed by J.J. McCarthy in what was called decorated gothic. … It was begun in 1868 but not completed until 1881’.
Correspondence relating to the disposal of the books from the library of Ard Mhuire Friary. A letter from Fr. Eustace McSweeney OFM Cap. to Fr. Benedict Cullen OFM Cap. affirms that ‘Fr. Raymond Murray took all the books that you suggested for the Cardinal Ó Fiaich Library and Archive in Armagh’. Fr. Eustace confirmed that the books will be stamped as suggested. The file includes a copy letter from the Most Rev. Seán Brady, Archbishop of Armagh, expressing his gratitude to the friars ‘for the wonderful collection of books which you have gifted to the Cardinal Ó Fiaich Library and Archive. I understand that it is a very large collection of valuable books, many of great scholarly interest and value’.
The subseries contains letters to Capuchin friars in Kilkenny concerning missions, retreats, the appointment of confessors and notices of jubilees, anniversaries and deaths. Many of the letters are from the Provincial Minster to the guardians of the Friary and relate to the internal administration of the Order. The section includes a large register book (CA KK/1/3/1) which contains copies of numerous circular letters and memoranda from Ministers General and Provincial Ministers.
