Letter from +Heerey to +McQuaid regarding the Nigerian Catholic boys who are currently studying in Dublin. Their faith needs to be protected while in Ireland. The issue of a hostel has been raised and the Provincial of the Holy Ghost Fathers has agreed that Nigerian Missionaries can take charge of this. He therefore applies for permission to buy a suitable premises.

Letter from Mgr. Gerada to +McQuaid stating that the Nuncio may be able to return from the hospital, in Drogheda, next week. He is over his critical stage. The prohibition on visitors still applies but the Archbishop is most welcome to visit if he can spare the time to go to Drogheda. The Nuncio also wishes to thank +McQuaid for all he has done during the last weeks which included the death of Pius XII and the election of John XXIII.

Letter from +Egidio Lari, Archbishop of Tyr, to +McQuaid seeking financial assistance in the Development of the parish of Corpus Domini, which is Located in the municipality of Montecatini Terme, a poor area inhabited mainly by ‘...workmen and peasants – most of them socialists and communists’. It will take 200 Million lire to develop the parish and they have received great support from the Pope. Annotated that £25 was sent.

Letter from +D. O’Sullivan, CSSp, Nigeria to Fr. Garry, Blairstown, New Jersey thanking him for the cheque for $200. He is delighted to learn they are getting first preference in Trenton next year and hopes they will be able to recommence the work on their seminary.
