A bound volume containing newspaper clippings with some manuscript notes and annotations compiled by Fr. Senan Moynihan OFM Cap. The volume includes obituaries and tribute articles for figures broadly associated with the Irish Revolution. Includes articles relating to Sara Mellows, Helena Concannon, Agnes O’Farrelly, Bishop John Dignan, Patrick J. Fleming, and Frank Fahy. Some of the articles refer to commemorations of various events during the revolutionary decade. The volume is a ‘Marathon account book’.

Newspaper clippings relating to the Irish Revolution assembled by the editors of 'The Capuchin Annual'. Many of the clippings relate to the role played by the Catholic clergy (particularly the Irish Capuchins) during this period. The file includes:
• An article referring to remarks made by Rev. W.P. Burke in relation to the moral justification of wars. It reads ‘who can call the wretched Dublin business a war? It was backed neither by the mind nor strength of the country’. 'Nationality', 9 June 1917.
• ‘A German Plot’. 'Cork Examiner', 18 May 1918.
• ‘Sinn Feiners and the German Plot’. 25 May 1918.
• ‘Salute the Heroes / Back from the Gates of Death’. The article refers to the release of republican prisoners from Mountjoy Jail and to the roles played by Fr. Augustine Hayden OFM Cap. and Fr. Albert Bibby OFM Cap. The article reads ‘The association of these two much loved Irish Franciscan Friars with the last moments of some of the men who died after the Insurrection of 1916 was recalled by their presence yesterday. … Father Augustine appealed to the crowds whom his voice could reach to be calm. The clippings relate mainly to notifications of public meetings, events, entertainments, and parades associated with the Boys’ Brigade, Church Street. Some of the clippings also provide lists of subscribers and details of fund-raising efforts. Includes clippings from the 'Freeman’s Journal', 'Daily Nation', 'Daily Express', and 'Evening Telegraph'. Some of the annotated clippings were loosely inserted into a hard-covered volume (21 cm x 14 cm) which was ink-stamped on the inside cover ‘Catholic Boys’ Brigade, Church Street, Dublin’.

The clippings contain lists of subscribers to a fund to pay off debts incurred in the building of St. Mary of the Angels. A clipping from the 'Freeman’s Journal', 27 Feb. 1897, provides details of a public meeting held in the Church, which discussed measures ‘for clearing off a debt of £8,000 still due for the completion of the new sacred edifice’. Among the attendees were William Field MP, Alderman Mulligan, and various members of the Church Street Capuchin community. The clippings were extracted from the subscription book relating to the said fund. (See CA CS/2/3/6).

Newspaper clippings referring to the sale of Father Mathew Hall and the Bow Street Friary. The file includes articles relating to the history of the Hall, its current condition and the need for conservation of the elaborate arch decorated with Celtic Revival emblems within the Hall. The clippings are from the 'Irish Times' and 'Sunday Business Post'.
