St. Oliver Plunket: Letter from Edward Faywood, Brook View, Kimmage Rd. to Fr Sebastian Slean,CP: Mrs. Haywood sends an engraving of (St.) Oliver Plunket, which she says has been in her family for 150 years (i.e., since 1747, 70 years after martyrdom). The only other known copy is in the Academy. The engraving is located under serial number 3400.

He writes on promoting devotion to the Passion,, meditation on the Passion, retreats and missions, the black scapular, undue visiting, absence of local superiors, incurring debt, profession of faith.

As a result of a secret ballot, ordered by the Pope following the resignation of Fr. Dominic of the Name of Mary, the Pope (Pius IX) appoints Fr. Bernard of St. Joseph as General and makes other appointments to the other General office. Translation of the decree is attached.
