1891058 Joseph Smith, C.P., Rosary of the Five Wounds: letter from Joseph to Fr. Bonaventure Oberst, Consultor General, Rome, concerning a life of Sr. Mary Chambon to whom the recitation of the Rosary of the Five Wounds was revealed, which recitation includes prayers said to have been been writtten, following inspiration, by "the holy Passionist, Fr, Bartholomew of SS John and Paul, Rome". (see item under serial number 3057). Post Office refuses to accept the "Life" without a license from the Chief Censor (this being wartime state censorship?). Too much bother to get this. Sends relevant pages (attached) to this letter instead. On top of letter, in a different hand, dates of a Fr. Bartholomew, who was Consultor General, are written.

Bonaventure Oberst, C.P., Consultor General, Rome' Snds Mass intemtions: Provincial wants large and small pictures of Gemma. Press release has ben sent to the Catholic Press about Five Wounds beads. Brings up reference to a holy Passionist priest at John and Paul's, a Fr. Bartholomew who had a revelation. Did such a man exist? Many years before, Joseph had denied one had in pages of The Cross. He adds cutting of prayer.

Smith, C.P., Fr. Joseph: PHOTOSTATS: Some pages from the Illuminated Address presented to Fr. Joseph Smith, on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of his priesthood. (This is now-1976- in the possession of his neice, Miss Margaret Smith, CAVAN. She has mounted
on the inside of both the front and back covers, news cuttings about his Golden Jubilee and his death*. There is also a ½-tone of him at Ormskirk, when Superior there.

  • At time of computerization the copies of these news cuttings were removed and are now located as follows; Golden Jubilee - serial number 8820, and death with other obituary notices - serial number 8821..The ½ tone referred to is located with the death notices.
