Carrigan, William, 12 Portland Row, North Strand, Dublin. Senator Professor Hayes succeeded in having an Amendment passed to the Children Bill in the Senate. If passed in the Dail it will improve the lot of Industrial School Teachers. As it is non-political she wonders if + McQuaid might be able to see his way to intervene in their behalf by asking one of the Government party to speak in favour of the Amendment.
Carroll, Robert M., 20, Effra Road, Rathmines, Dublin. He has been suspended from his job in the Arts library, UCD, and the Librarian refuses to have him back. Asks + McQuaid for his help and guidance.
- 25 September 1959 Carton, Eileen, St. Joseph’s, 18 Ailesbury Road, Dublin. Her correspondence with + McQuaid and Fr. Mangan relates to the Catholic Association for International Relations, the play Rose Tattoo at the Gate Theatre, more Catholic members in the Housewives, although there seems to be different factions amongst them, the Cerebal Palsy Association, The Little Hut at the Garrick Theatre and Sartre’s The Respectable Prostitute at the Pike Theatre.
Casey, John F., Lourdes Hospital, Dun Laoghaire. Thanks the Archbishop on behalf of all the patients for his donation for Entertainment of the patients.
Casey, J.J., 32/33 Lower Abbey Street. Asks that the writers be granted an interview, the purpose of which is to acquaint him with recent developments. These relate to Catholic Action opposing masonry.
Cassidy, Desmond A., 24 Elizabeth Street, Drumcondra, Dublin. He wishes to make the Archbishop aware of a film, I Confess, and argues that it is unsuitable.
Caulfiefd, Patrick J., 92 East Road, Dublin 3. Events in the docks are causing concern, one being pilfering. Suggests that a missionary effort be made similar to the Sailors’ Rest at British Railways.
Cavey, W.H., Royal Hotel, Bray, Co. Wicklow. Encloses a ‘howler’ from a Christmas cracker which he finds offensive.
Chamberlain, 1, Downpatrick Road, Crumlin, Dublin. The letter sent on 20 March was signed Jane Chamberlain and spoke of the rebellion in the parish against the Parish Priest. He has made a bad impression and the people do not trust him. The reply to this letter was sent to the same address, but nobody of that name lived there. The occupant was Kathelene Mary, she was shocked on receiving the reply and she never wrote the letter of the 20th.
Chambers. Letter of reply from + McQuaid. Mgr. Boylan has been receiving scant thanks for his pains in relation to his Society.
