Overseas Missions: Vicariate

Overseas Missions; Johannesburg Foundation: copy letter (dated 01-01-1961) from Fergus Loughrey, C.P., to Caspar Caulfield, C.P., the Secretary General of the Missions, thanking him for the copy of his letter of above date to the Apostolic Delegate to South Africa (which copy is attached). In that letter Caspar sets out the reasons why we want to establish a house in Johannesburg and the relationship of such a proposed house with the Prefecture of Bechuanaland ( Botswana ) as the present arrangement or the projected one of sixteen miles from the city are not satisfactory. An offer from the Oblates is not favoured by the Bishop.. Thanks H.E. for whatever can be done.
