Typed letter to +McQuaid from Alfred O’Rahilly, President, University College, Cork. Some clauses in the Health Bill are quite sinister. He refers to the first State ‘medical school’ and postgraduate education. This is a blow to existing medical schools; the position of their staff and students in the local District Hospital; the position of the local voluntary hospital.

Handwritten notes on St. Vincent de Paul headed notepaper stating that Murphy, the unemployed candidate, is not a Communist but is being used by them. His electioneering (lories, posters, etc) is being done by Jeffares, Nolan, Carmady and C. Murphy, who is just back from Russia. They have helped with his deposit. Murphy interned as IRA member in 1941. Asked if anything can be done about McQuilea in Roscommon?
