Letter from +Alibrandi to +McQuaid stating that the Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for Bishops, Cardinal Confalonieri, has directed him to inform the Archbishop that the Holy Father has praised his spirit of faithful submission and supernatural adherence to God’s will, with which he accepted the communication regarding the acceptance of his retirement. This will not be made known until after the next Synod of Bishops. The Holy Father also conveys his Paternal Apostolic Blessing.

Letter from Mgr. Paul Tabet stating that +Luciano Storero, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Dominican Republic, is arriving in Dublin. He is seeking Sisters to teach in a High School in Baltimore. If Sisters cannot be found, then the school may have to close down. He is also willing to hand over the school to an Order if more than two Sisters are sent. +Alibrandi has already spoken with the Dominican and Mercy Sisters, neither of which are willing to undertake the work. There is the possibility that +Storero will mention this to the Archbishop during his visit.
