Correspondence between +Levame to +McQuaid regarding the Bishops meeting for the Province of Leinster, which is held on the Wednesday of Low Week. There is also discussion on the subject of Emigrants. An Episcopal Committee has already been established and includes the Archbishop of Tuam and the Bishops of Raphoe, Ferns and Kerry. As for the Apostolatus Maris in Dublin, the Catholic Seamen’s Hostel is administered through City Quay parish and a Vincentian father also attends regularly as Chaplain to the special work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul which has care of the hostel.

Typed letter to Fr. Diffney. IHA stronger than ever. Are to inherit £400 from death of an old lady. Minister Norton used influence to get a man called Bergin a job in Guinness’s Baths. He is an organiser with WUI and has access to the brewery. Directors so worried at drop in production that they have sought advice. On day of Sean South’s funeral he blew whistle and men stopped working while funeral passed. Sean Beaumont, Editor of The Irish Press is leaving and she hopes she has stopped John O’Donovan getting the job and that a true Gael gets the job. Asks if he has heard of the American College of Personnel Efficiency? Peadar Ward checked Ron Hubbard’s details and found that they were wrong. Hubbard has been replaced by Dr. Morris.

Letter from Fr. Sean Gordon to +McQuaid stating his consecration will take place in Rome on 24th June. Cardinal Cicognani will be the consecrating Bishop, with Archbishop Sigismondi acting as first Co-Consecrator. He feels it would not be proper to ask +McQuaid to be the 2nd Co- Consecrator so he has instead asked the Bishop of Nara. He does hope that +McQuaid will be present on the day.
