Handwritten letter to Fr. Mangan from Jim O’Brien. Is sending a copy of membership card for the Leo League. Wonders if it is prudent to ask the Archbishop whether the Leo League should form branches in the parishes which want it. Would be under the direction of a priest from the parish. O’Brien wants to fade out as he is not best man for the job.

Report on the Rev. Armstrong, Church of Ireland Rector, Howth. In C. of I. circles has the reputation of being a good churchman. Is a leading member of the Irish Anti-War Crusade and a pacifist with Communist leanings. His views not supported by his congregation. Saw Jesus as first pacifist and Church should follow his example. Several parishioners have refused to attend his services as a protest to his visit to Warsaw.

Statement by the Very Rev. M.C. Troy, P.P., Ballyfermot. Communism is attempting a world revolution by force of arms, allied by fifth- columnists. Today a play in a Dublin Theatre, written by a journalist for The Daily Worker, subtly wages war against Christ and His Church. All believers must unite to resist the attempt at world revolution against God. Catholics and Protestants should shun the play. Dublin Corporation should refuse a licence to theatres producing Communist propaganda plays. Time has come to outlaw the Communist Party of Ireland.
