Michael O’Hallaran, Administrator of City Quay parish, has been appointed a member of the International Secretariat of the ‘Apostleship of the Sea’. The appointment was made following his nomination by the Irish Hierarchy at their general meeting on 24 June 1952.

to Cardinal D’Alton, and Pope Pius XII in relation to an article published in The Standard newspaper which is inaccurate. The article appeared on 4 March 1949 and was entitled ‘British Troops Guarded Maynooth Against Tans’. According to McCabe, who was a member of the R.I.C. at the time, there were never any Black and Tans stationed at Maynooth and the College was never under threat. The article quotes Mgr. McCaffrey, the then President of the College, who is long since dead. He wants the story to be refuted.

the Irish National Pilgrimage of the Sodalities of Our Lady in Ireland, who wish the Nuncio to lead a pilgrimage to Lourdes in May 1954. He has been invited by Fr. John Kerr SJ and wishes the Archbishop’s views on this matter. He is aware of conflicts in parts of the United States in relation to sodalities run by parishes and those run by the Jesuits at schools and colleges. Reply states that there are no such problems in Ireland regarding the sodalities as to merit the Nuncio refusing the invitation.
