United Irish League Convention Ticket

A press ticket for admission to the national convention of the United Irish League in the Mansion House in Dublin in April 1912. The ticket is signed by Joseph Devlin who was appointed the League’s General Secretary in 1904.

The article includes a photographic print of Fr. Michael J. Heuston OP, a Dominican friar, and a brother of the 1916 leader. Upper Church Street shortly after Kevin Barry’s arrest

The scene on Upper Church Street shortly after Kevin Barry’s arrest. A Dublin medical student, Barry was an Irish Volunteer who took part in an attack on a military truck outside a bakery on Church Street in which three British soldiers were killed in September 1920. He was captured at the scene, court-martialled and hanged in Mountjoy Jail on the morning of Monday, 1 November.
