Overseas Missions: Botswana: Paraguay: Vicariate: "A Bulletin compiled by the Students of Mount Argus from letters received from the Missionaries" Part One: "A Year in Paraguay". A review, by Salvian MaGuire, C.P., of the year since the arrival of the Passionists in Paraguay is quoted, He describes the terority and population. Attendance at Mass is sparce and few receive the sacraments. Fr. Theophane writes in the same vein. The number of irregular unions is referred to. While it would seem that there is work for a legion of priests, little would be gained at present by putting more men on the job. There are 8 schools in the parish. There is a necessity for a trained catehcist. Plans for a church and oratory are in hands. Medical facilities are appaling and the water is bad. On 24 January there were 82 cadidiates for Confirmation.. Part Two; "Self-Rule in Bechuanaland: Clippings from 'The Star' - Johannesburg's Daily Newespaper".The method to be emplopyed in the forthcoming referendum on the government is detailed. This is a very comprehensive and important report, as it seems to be the basis on which the Provincial Curia decided to undertake missionary activity in that country.
