Canon Augustine Maguire, Parish Priest of St. Finn Barr’s Catholic Church, Cork, of premises on Blackamoor Lane ‘which were formerly used as a Roman Catholic Chapel with Sacristy attached thereto and was commonly called and known as “Father Mathew’s Chapel”’, for 75 years at the nominal yearly rent of £1. Also, in consideration that should the lessees sell the said premises they will ‘erect a suitable Hall as a Memorial for the Reverend Theobald Mathew deceased (who was styled the Apostle of Temperance)’. The lessees will also expend £300 on the erection of the said Memorial Hall. An annotation on the cover reads: ‘Recommended that the lease be approved’.
